Azylya has been founded in 2009 by songstress JAMIE-LEE SMIT, backened by VLAD on keys and drummer GAËTAN. Quickly they were joined by left-handed Bass guitarist BEN and, eventually, guitarist ANTHONY. Together they started writing a story about a young woman who found herself torn between a forgotten past and an unstable present,, amidst a world where nothing is as it should be. 
Working on this story, the first EP was born, entitled THANATOS' INSANITY, which will be available in stores and via MetalurgicA, as well as via Azylya's own website. 
However, Both GAETAN and VLAD had to leave the band, due to professional reasons.
The remaining members started looking for worthy successors, and after several scrutinizing auditions, FORSTER (Ex-Annwynn) and GUILLAUME (Antheria) are recruited, making more than welcomed additions to the band, together with MAXIME, adding a second guitar and trash vocals.

Again however, disaster struck as the 3 newcomers decide on leaving the band after 6 months,...But Azylya would not be Azylya if the search for the next generation has not been well underway, and so the line-up has been confirmed again with MICHAËL (Keys), FRANCK (Trash vocals/Guitars) and JERRY (Drums)... but then Ben could no longer ensure his presence with Azylya and in common agreement, left, to be replaced by QUENTIN aka POLAK, whereas Michaël was succeeded by JONAS and, after a brief
stance with Franck, the slot for the male vocalist was kept open to guest singers.

The sound of Azylya is based on Epica, Nightwish, Lacuna Coil and to no small extent bands like Theatre Of Tragedy or Hanging Doll, with their own dramatic yet dreamy feeling taking you on a trip inside dark thoughts, strong yet melancholic feelings, and more... Even silence is guilty at AZYLYA!
